Denton Texas, is a city located on the northern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area ('DFW Metroplex'), where I-35 splits into I-35E to Dallas and I-35W to Fort Worth. Dallas and Fort Worth are barely over 40 miles away from Denton. Oklahoma City is also just 40 miles northwest of Denton.
Also the county seat of Denton County, the US Census Bureau has ranked Denton in the top twenty five of the fastest growing cities in the nation with a population that was estimated in March 2009 to be 118,994 (City of Denton).
Denton is a college town and home to two universities, University of North Texas (UNT) and Texas Women's University (TWU). North Central Texas College, a community college attended by Denton students as well is located is Corinth, a short distance away. The student population is estimated to be around 45,000.
Apart from being called 'Redbud Capital of Texas' because of all the redbud trees, the city is also known for its music scene. Home to the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo and the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, Denton is becoming one of the most popular places to visit in the DFW Metroplex area.
